Here is the text (only) of the poster presented at the 8th International Conference on System Science in Health Care at the University of Geneva on September 1st to 4th 2004.
The poster has 3 sections; an abstract; a summary, and the full text of the subject. |
ABSTRACT:
Due to life's origin and 3.5 billion year evolution in the seas of the Earth, all but the most primitive organisms are totally dependent upon the constant nutritional availability of the complete range of the 72 natural trace elements (also called 'minerals') - as found in the sea in solution - for their health and well being.
In deadly contrast, our modern N-P-K agriculture knows of and maintains only 8 (eight) trace elements in its soils, hence in its products, and hence again, in practically all of our daily food. Due to this 150 year long neglect, combined with the shipping of crops to distant markets, the 64 unknown and neglected trace elements have become either severely deficient or exhausted in all chemically farmed soils, and hence, in all of their products and, consequently, in practically all of our daily food.
This lack or severe deficiency of about 64 natural trace elements in our daily food is the cause of a great many
diseases, among them, but not limited to, breast, colon, prostate and many other cancers, many so called
'incurable' physiological, neurological, vascular and endocrine diseases, most late-onset diseases, practically all auto-immune diseases, many allergies, birth defects and viral diseases, including the common cold.
Re-establishing the complete range of the 72 natural trace elements in all agricultural soils results in the quick
and highly effective cure and elimination of the wide range of diseases mentioned - just as iodine supplementa-
tion (in table salt) cures and eliminates goitre, and eliminates cretinism - within about 100 days of the presence of the complete natural range of the 72 trace elements in all of our daily food.
SUMMARY:
Title:
The quick and highly effective cure and prevention of many cancers, many incurable physiological, neurological, cardiovascular, late-onset, auto-immune, degenerative and chronic diseases, influenza, many allergies and birth defects, by natural nutritional means.
BACKGROUND:
Since 7/8 of the 4 billion year long evolution of life occurred in the seas, and only 1/8 of its span occurred on land, we have inherited an absolute dependency upon the complete range of the 72 natural trace elements, as found in the seas, in all of our daily food for our physical and mental health.
However, our modern chemical agriculture knows of and maintains only 8 trace elements in its soils and products, and hence, in practically all of our daily food. Due to this 150 year-long neglect, over 60 natural trace elements have become severely deficient or exhausted in all chemically farmed soils, and hence in our daily food.
CAUSE:
This massive trace element deficiency in our daily food is the direct cause of a great number of diseases such as, but not limited to, breast, colon, prostate and lung cancers, leukemia, lupus, MS, ALS, Alzheimer's, ADD, ADHAD, bi-polar, heart & cardiovascular diseases, arthritis, diabetes, edema, arteriosclerosis, osteoporosis, herpes, influenza, many allergies and birth defects.
CURE
Just as effectively as iodine supplementation eliminates goitre and cretinism, restoring the 72 natural trace elements in all of our daily food eliminates and prevents a wide range of diseases, as mentioned above. This is due to the over 60 neglected trace elements involved, and to the myriad vital functions many trace elements perform - as zinc does in the formation of transcription factors - in the normal function of our metabolism and immune systems.
Today, the only readily available food in the industrialized nations which still contains the complete natural range of the 72 nutritional trace elements is seafood, and a daily serving of seafood cures and prevents a wide range of diseases, as mentioned above - and as it does among the Japanese.
These results - usually within 100 days - can be obtained by anyone, any place, anytime.
However, this is only a stop-gap remedy, and the only valid long-term solution is the restitution and maintenance of the complete range of the 72 natural trace elements - which can be readily obtained from the sea - in all agricultural soils, and hence, in all of our daily food.
PROOF:
Living proof is provided by the dramatically lower incidence of many cancers, neurological, cardiovascular, late-
onset, degenerative and chronic diseases among over four billion people - among them the Japanese, Chinese,
Singhalese, the people of India and of many other undeveloped nations. Among the latter, the major factor is the return of all life wastes, and with them the 72 trace elements, to the soil - in a perpetual cycle from soil to produce to people to soil again.
OUTCOME:
A wide and massive improvement in public and personal health - and a massive reduction of health care costs.
MAIN SUBJECT:
BACKGROUND:
The seas have always contained the 91 natural elements of the Earth in solution - including 72 trace elements
(also called 'minerals') - and still do. Life has arisen and evolved for 3.5 billion years - for 7/8 of it 4 billion year
span - in the seas of the Earth. Consequently, all but the most primitive organisms are absolutely dependent upon the presence of the 72 natural trace elements of the Earth in their daily nutrition.
As world renowned biologist Harold J. Morowitz stated: "The elements of the periodic table are the essential hardware to be used in building organisms, and they appear to have been evolutionarily chosen to fulfill necessary roles in living chemistry." [1].
And when life colonized the continents it also found - with the odd exception of one or the other deficient trace element here and there - the complete range of the 91 elements - including 72 natural trace elements - of the Earth in the soils of the continents. [2]
CAUSE:
In deadly contrast, our modern N-P-K agriculture knows of and maintains only 8 (eight) trace elements in its soils and products (boron, copper, manganese, molybdenum, zinc in the soil - and 3 trace elements are added at other stages of food production; cobalt in cattle licks, selenium in 'fortified' chicken feed, and iodine in table salt). Consequently, and due to this 150 year-long ignorance and neglect, combined with the distribution of agricultural product to distant markets, 64 trace elements have become either severely deficient or exhausted in all chemically farmed soils, hence in all of their products, and hence again, in practically all of our daily food.
While there are many other causes of diseases, such as the infectious diseases, chemical pollution, genetic
causes and life style (smoking, alcohol and drug abuse, eating disorders and lack of exercise), this severe defi-
ciency of about 64 trace elements in our daily food is the cause of a great many diseases including, but not limited to breast, colon, prostate and lung cancers, leukemia, MS, ALS, Alzheimer's, ADD, ADHAD, bi-polar, heart & cardiovascular diseases, arthritis, lupus, diabetes, edema, arteriosclerosis, osteoporosis, Kaposi's sarcoma, herpes, many other viral diseases, allergies and birth defects.
This large and wide ranging trace element deficiency results in ill formed, ill functioning, ill recognized and ill substituted (lead instead of calcium; cadmium instead of zinc, etc.) proteins, and proteins with the wrong ('foreign') electromagnetic signature. This is the cause of most auto-immune, and a large range of other diseases, depending upon whether the trace element deficiencies occur in neural, cardiovascular, endocrine, reproductive, muscle, bone, bone marrow, collagen and or connective tissues.
Chief among this large number of diseases are most late-onset diseases (other than those caused by accumulated chemical pollutants, smoking and drinking), almost all auto-immune diseases (as our immune system does not recognize ill formed proteins as our own), most endocrine disorders due to ill folded and ill functioning proteins, including many reproductive disorders, many muscle, collagen, bone and bone-marrow disorders, and many allergies and birth defects. And except for endocrine disruptive chemicals in our food, water and environment, the sharp increase in cardiovascular and urogenital birth defects in the last few decades can be largely attributed to trace element deficiencies in the mother.
A zinc deficiency, for instance, can cause ill formed transcription factors [4] - which makes the transcription of
sound genetic information into RNA and mRNA impossible. This can cause a large variety of diseases depending upon where in our bodies the zinc deficiency occurs. And if the zinc deficiency occurs in the development of the ova in a female foetus, it will cause an irreversible genetic fault which can be passed on to all of its subsequent offspring through the generations.
This wide ranging trace element deficiency will also be found to be responsible for the failure of cells to mature due to the lack of one or more crucial and pivotal trace elements, resulting in the wild proliferation of immature cells typical of all cancers.
This same large scale trace element deficiency also leaves us susceptible to most viral diseases. It is, for all the world, as if our bodies have a supremely effective defense parameter consisting of an impenetrable ring of highly sophisticated and exquisitely accurate cannons - but no ammunition.
Worth noting here is that the Green monkeys are highly infected with the SIV virus, but are all completely immune to the disease in the wild. This can be attributed to the presence of the complete natural range of the 72 trace elements in their daily nutrition.
CURE:
Just as effectively as iodine supplementation eliminates goitre and cretinism, restoring the 72 natural trace ele-
ments in all of our daily food cures, prevents and eliminates a very wide range of diseases, as mentioned above. This is due to the over 60 unknown and neglected trace elements involved, and to the myriad vital functions many trace elements perform - as zinc does in the formation of transcription factors - in the normal function of our metabolism and immune systems.
Today, the only readily available food in the industrialized nations which still contains the complete natural range of the 72 nutritional trace elements is seafood, and a daily serving of the absolute minimum of 125 grams of seafood cures and prevents a wide range of diseases, as outlined above - and as it does among the Japanese. So does all wild food - food growing wild on lands which have never been cultivated - as well as all food grown in the ancient traditional manner of returning all life wastes to the soil. The return of all life wastes to the soil maintains the 72 natural trace elements (and what is a miniscule resource, typically in parts per million) in the soil in perpetuity, in a perpetual cycle from soil to product to livestock and people, and back again to the soil. This traditional agriculture is the major cause of the dramatically lower incidence of cancer and other degenerative diseases in China, India, Sri Lanka, Japan, as well as in many other undeveloped nations.
The daily serving of seafood is necessary for two reasons; to provide our system with the absolute minimum necessary amount of the 72 nutritional trace elements in seafood; and secondly, for daily replenishment. Since all purely natural systems have always contained the complete range of the 72 natural trace elements (with the odd exception of a deficient trace element here or there - such as iodine in the "goiter belts"), our bodies have never evolved the capacity to retain the trace elements - except for a crucially important bit of copper in the substantia nigra in our brains, without which we would be idiots.
It must be noted here that the growers of "organic" produce and food are also as yet unaware of the crucially vital importance of the 72 trace elements in our daily nutrition. And unless some growers happen to use fish, kelp or seaweed fertilizers, their produce and products will be just as trace element deficient as our chemically grown food. Still, the absence of fungi- pesti- and herbicides in all organic food is profoundly healthier than the poison drenched products of our chemical agriculture.
Since the average protein in our bodies lasts about 100 days, the cure of all diseases caused by trace element deficiencies takes approximately about 100 days, as old faulty trace element deficient proteins are replaced by new and sound proteins. Where the protein replacement cycle is longer than 100 days, the cure will take accordingly longer.
These results can be obtained by anyone, any place, anytime.
Because the healing process works at the level of replacing faulty, trace element deficient proteins with 'good' or sound proteins within the natural protein replacement cycle, day to day improvement is virtually unnoticeable - just as growing is unnoticeable from day to day - but is clearly evident after a couple of months of growth.
Moreover, today's virtually unnoticeable improvement becomes tomorrows baseline of the way we feel - leaving us with the perception that nothing has changed, only to be surprised when we realize one day that we are healthy again.
Spontaneous remissions are ruled out completely since the symptoms return as soon as the daily
seafood dietary routine is discontinued, only to disappear just as promptly upon resumption.
It works like clockwork.
However, the daily seafood dietary routine, as highly effective as it is, is only a stop-gap remedy, and the only valid long-term solution is the restitution and maintenance of the complete range of the 72 natural trace elements in all agricultural soils, and hence, in all of our daily food. That many kinds of seafood are now contaminated with mercury, as well as with PCBs and Dioxins, lends further urgency to the restitution of the 72 natural trace elements in all agricultural soils.
This can be easily and quickly achieved just by a federal government mandate - as the health ministry mandates that all milk must be pasteurized, for instance - that all agricultural soils, and their products, must contain the complete natural range of the 72 trace elements. That is all that is required. And other than a small pamphlet which explains the reasons to farmers and consumers, no other expenditures are necessary. Private industry will provide the 72 trace element fertilizer, just as it provides the common fertilizers now.
A 72 trace elements fertilizer can be readily obtained from sea water by evaporating the water and removing the salt from the mineral residue of the condensed trace elements. It has been said that this is a very expensive procedure, but since the complete natural range of the 72 nutritional trace elements includes such expensive metals as gold, silver, platinum, and so forth, mining these metals is far more expensive. Further, the evaporation of sea water yields three saleable products; the 72 trace elements fertilizer, sea salt, and potable water.
It has also been said that analyzing the soil for 72 trace elements and correcting 72 different deficiencies in all agricultural soils is an all but impossible undertaking. This is not necessary; a 72 trace element fertilizer as it comes from the sea is sufficient - except for a deficiency of iron. And other than localized upwellings of trace elements (also called minerals), the distribution of the trace elements in the oceans is extremely uniform. But since the amounts of the 72 trace elements in marine organism vary somewhat and typically according to kind, it is obvious that marine organisms take up the 72 trace elements in the amounts they need. The same holds true for terrestrial plants, including our crops.
Within 3 months of agricultural products containing the 72 trace elements becoming widely available, there will be a massive reduction in the incidence of a long list of cancers, as well as in the incidence of a long list of late-onset, auto-immune and many other now considered 'incurable' neural, physiological, endocrine, reproductive and viral diseases, allergies and birth defects.
We have to do this anyway. Right now, we are beginning to lose a sharply increasing number of our offspring to such devastating diseases as diabetes, autism, attention deficit disorder, hyper activity, and a growing incidence of leukemia - totally unknown in children not so long ago - as well as cardiovascular and urogenital birth defects.
AGRICULTURE:
Restoring the complete natural range of the 72 nutritional trace elements in all agricultural soils also results in an equally dramatic improvement of the health of our crops - which will sharply reduce the need for fungi- and bacteriacides. This will be followed by another very substantial improvement of our personal and public health by the absence of these agricultural poisons on and in our food, land, water and air.
The constant presence of the 72 natural trace element in the soil will also result in a substantial increase in yields. Indeed, a supremely healthy, richly abundant, completely poison free, and much lower cost agriculture which is not only permanently sustainable but grows richer and more fertile year by year (as nature does) is easily achievable. This is actually being practiced in some large scale agricultural communes in China, with dramatic results.
LIVESTOCK:
The presence of the complete natural range of the 72 trace elements in all livestock fodder and feed also results in an equally dramatic improvement in the health of all livestock. There are all indications that hoof and mouth disease, as well as mad cow disease in cattle will be eliminated. And so will be the avian flu in chicken and other fowl. Similarly, and with a robust and fully functionally immune system, most of the antibiotics and other chemicals given to livestock will be unnecessary.
Moreover, wherever we find that wild animals living on wild food are infected with a viral disease but are immune to the disease, we can be all but certain that the complete range of the 72 natural trace elements in their nutrition is the cause of their immunity.
THE THREE DOMAINS:
That we obtain the same dramatic improvement in the three domains of crop, animal and human health is nothing more than to be fully expected, as all three domains are a completely integrated system. The notion that crops need certain trace elements but humans dont is just plain silly. This is, on the other hand, also a strong note of caution: whatever we introduce into our land, crops and livestock very quickly ends up in us. PCBs, DDT and a whole raft of other agricultural poisons in our blood and mother's milk provide grim examples.
PROOF:
Living proof is provided by the dramatically lower incidence of many cancers, neurological, cardiovascular, late-
onset, degenerative and chronic diseases among over four billion people - among them the Japanese, Chinese,
Singhalese, the people of India, Africa and of many other undeveloped nations. Among the latter, the major factor is the return of all life wastes - and with them the 72 trace elements - to the soil, in a perpetual sustained cycle from soil to produce to people to soil again.
Dramatic, and clearly visible proof can be obtained by anyone, any place, anytime, by putting patients and people suffering from arthritis, MS, ALS, edema and other readily apparent diseases on the daily seafood dietary routine. In three months, these patients will be rid of these diseases.
OUTCOME:
After three months of the wide and ready availability of a complete range of foods containing the 72 natural nutri-tional trace elements there will be a massive reduction of the incidence of a long list of cancers, late-onset, autoimmune, degenerative and chronic diseases, many of them now considered 'incurable', as well as many viral diseases, allergies and birth defects, as mentioned here.
This will be followed immediately by an equally massive reduction in public and private health care costs.
Medicine will then be free to focus upon and address the infectious diseases, diseases caused by chemical pollution, genetic disorders and life style issues.
REFERENCES:
The only references which come close to addressing the causes and remedy described here are studies done
with the frequency of fish consumption and, to a lesser degree, fish oil supplementation. However, since fish consumption was typically limited to one or two, or at most three fish meals per week, only very promising rather than dramatic results were obtained. Still, the academic focus remains exclusively on the Omega-3 fatty acids, and there appears to be as yet no awareness of the powerful therapeutic function of the 72 trace elements in fish.
Much research within the last few decades has gone into the newly recognized trace elements [3], among them
arsenic, chromium, nickel, silicon, selenium, tin and vanadium, all of which have been found to be "essential" to human health and well being. And while very promising results were obtained particularly with chromium and vanadium in regard to diabetes, toxic side effects soon became apparent. This is to be expected as the direct consequence of working with a single or two trace elements, rather than with the complete range of the 72 natural nutritional trace elements. None of the trace elements work in isolation, and just as calcium requires magnesium to be effective, all the trace elements only work in conjunction with many other, and ultimately with all trace elements.
Researchers will find, therefore, that studies done with the complete range of the 72 natural trace elements in the daily nutrition of patients will yield dramatic results.
Studies done with fish consumption, fish oil supplementation, and the various newly recognized trace elements
reveal very positive effects for a wide range of diseases including, and among others, ADHAD, allergies, ALS, Alzheimer's, rheumatoid arthritis, arteriosclerosis, cancers (breast, colon, colorectal, head, liver, lung, neck, prostate, skin cancers), cardiovascular diseases, cholestasis, depression, diabetes, disorders of the central nervous system, endocrine disorders, Downs Syndrome, goitre, hepatic fibrosis, hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, immune functions, Itai-Itai disease, leukemia, liver cirrhosis, liver diseases, lupus, Kashin-Beck disease, Keshan disease, male fertility, mental diseases, mental retardation, Minamata disease, multiple sclerosis, neoplasms, neuropathy, peritonitis, senility, schizophrenia, stroke, tuberculosis, tumors, UV
radiation - and "the breakdown of mmune system, the high number of human pathologies characterized by alterations in the zinc pool, the aging process, and the major homeostatic mechanisms of the body, i. e., the nervous, neuroendocrine and immune systems."
Out of the approximately 9000 papers published annually on the trace elements, we list only 590 published
papers regarding trace element studies done with fish consumption and fish oil supplementation, multiple trace element studies, and studies done with particular single trace elements, all done primarily with human subjects, and only where this was impossible, with animal models.

The Japanese are the longest living people in the world - 85.23 years for women, 78.32 for men in 2002.
Japan, China and Sri Lanka have public health care systems and excellent health statistics. India has neither.
However, since Sri Lanka and India are virtually indistinguishable in ethnicity, agricultural methods, typical diet and environmental factors, Indian cancer mortality rates are very similar - as also indicated by health studies in various locations.
Because of the massive population base - well over three billion people - and because of the widely divergent ethnicity of the people in these regions, and the lack of any close homogeneity within the various populations, genetic factors are ruled out. There are just far too many genetic differences in this massive segment of the human population. Yet their cancer rates are dramatically lower than those of the Western nations. This is underscored by the fact that Far Eastern people acquire the same cancer rate of the Western nations after emigrating to Western nations.
