THE INFORMATION DIMENSION
The "EPR" experiments were originally proposed by Einstein in a 1935 paper in collaboration with Podolsky and Rosen - and designed to disprove "action at a distance", or the essential "non-locality"of quantum dynamics. However, when these experiments became possible they proved just the opposite. Non-locality, or "action at a distance" has been proven to be a fact of nature.
In the latest EPR experiment at the Institute of Optics at the University of Paris at Orsay, carried out by Alain Aspect and his colleagues Jean Dalibard and Gerard Roger in 1982, the polarity of one of two paired photons traveling in opposite directions was changed while in flight, and it was shown - as with all the other EPR experiments - that the polarity of the other photon changed instantaneously to the opposite and complementary polarity - although the two photons were beyond the distance of communication at the speed of light.
The cogent points here are:
a) the information of the induced change of polarity of one photon was transmitted instantaneously to the other photon, causing the instantaneous reversal of its original polarity to the opposite, complementary polarity.
b) the change was instantaneous and, consequently, totally independent of space - of the distance between the two photons.
c) the change was instantaneous, and consequently, totally independent of time - of the time required for a signal to reach the other photon at the speed of light.
Conclusion: Since the information about the change of polarity of the first photon reached its paired twin independent of space and time, there exists an "Information Dimension" - a timeless and spaceless dimension which contains this information, and which is, therefore, infinite.
This explains, very nicely, why particles act like waves in one instance, and as particles in the other. The particles behave according to the information regarding the test configuration - a two slit or one slit experiment, respectively.
Further; this makes messenger particles between photons unnecessary, and casts doubt upon the necessity of other messenger particles.
Further; the existence of the information dimension shows that today's version of quantum mechanics is incomplete without this dimension.
Further; it makes the observer unnecessary.
My favourite argument against the retroactive observation into existence of our universe is that we have as yet an incomplete and still somewhat faulty perception of the nature of our universe. Consequently, any universe observed into existence by us would have to be an incomplete and somewhat faulty universe. And more so with a retroactively observed into existence universe. Our universe would have changed several times over the last 100 years, as our perception of our universe has changed.
Direct contact with this infinite, timeless and spaceless Information Dimension has been experienced by many. It is the well known "Eureka" moment - when the complete information regarding the subject of interest is 'downloaded' into the consciousness of the investigator in one timeless instant (see "STORY OF DISCOVERY" in these pages).
Typically, the "Eureka" moment comes at a time of relaxation, when the mind 'idles' over the subject, or in a concise and powerfully symbolic image in a dream (the double helical structure of DNA).
Many people have experienced the information dimension directly in times of a near death experience when "their
whole life passed before them in a timeless instant".
We can now say that, when the information can be encompassed by the mind, the information is available.
