    Our Deadly Daily Food
    Our deadly daily food - deficient in over 60 vitally important trace elements, severely deficient in nutrients, agricultural poison-laden inside and out, irradiated and containing trans-species genes, anti-biotics, growth hormones and female hormones - has killed, and continues to do so, untold millions with many cancers, neural and mental diseases, leukemia, heart disease, diabetes and most autoimmune diseases,

    has caused untold suffering from all kinds of chronic and degenerative diseases, has caused many birth defects in our children, is robbing them of their sanity and afflicting them with Attention Deficit Syndrome and Hyper Activity Disorder, is dropping sexual maturity of our girls to the ages of 5 - 8, and feminizes males.

    And for good reasons:


    Trace Elements:

    As described in "SUPREME HEALTH" in these pages, all natural living organisms function upon a base of the 84 naturally occurring elements in our environments. All except our agriculture; it recognizes and maintains only a paltry 8 (yes, eight) trace elements in its soils, hence in all of its products, and hence again, in our daily food. This severe and massive trace element deficiency (over 60 missing trace elements) in our daily food is the cause of most cancers, about 80% of all 'incurable' diseases, most chronic and degenerative diseases, practically all auto-immune diseases, most mental and neural diseases, and most birth defects in our children.This could be so easily and quickly corrected just by using an 84 element fertilizer which can be easily obtained from seawater.


    Nutrients:

    A recent Canadian study (July 2002) has confirmed what earlier English and American studies have found. In the last 50 years, our fruit and vegetables have undergone a massive decline in nutrients. Among many others, potatoes have lost 100 per cent of their vitamin A; 57 per cent of their vitamin C and iron, a key component of healthy blood; 28 per cent of their calcium, essential for building healthy bones and teeth; 50 per cent of their riboflavin; and 18 percent of their thiamine. Only niacin levels have increased. Oranges have lost so much of their vitamin C that one would have to eat 8 oranges now to equal the vitamin C in one orange 50 years ago. Essentially the same holds true for 80 per cent of all the fruit and vegetables which were tested.
    Between the many missing trace elements and nutrients, what we are getting now then are almost 'empty' fruit and vegetables, rich only in carbohydrates. No wonder then that 50 per cent of our population is overweight, and of these, 40 per cent are obese..


    Agricultural Poisons:

    In 1995, world pesticide consumption reached 2.6 million metric tons of active ingredients with a market value of USD 38 billion. Roughly 85% of this consumption was used in agriculture. About three quarters of pesticide use occurs in developed countries, mostly in North America, Western Europe, and Japan. Although the volume of pesticides used in developing countries is small relative to that in many developed countries, it is nonetheless substantial and is growing rapidly. In addition, the pesticide market in developing countries is dominated by insecticides, with a higher acute toxicity than herbicides [ see original article ].
    Worse, pesticides which have been banned here are still exported to other countries like Mexico and South America, from which we import much of our fruit and vegetables.
    Consequently, the blood of every living thing everywhere on this Earth - even in the most remote and 'pristine' regions - now contain at least 14 agricultural poisons. The worst of it is that mother's milk also contains these poisons. We are beginning to have compromised offspring now - birth defects and mental problems - and in a few more generations, our offspring will not be viable anymore.
    This deliberate and widespread poisoning of our daily food is rank and incomprehensible insanity. How can the manufacturers and farmers get away with this, when people who poison other people are prosecuted for their crime and thrown into jail, even executed.
    The boundless tragedy is that agricultural poisons are absolutely unnecessary for a rich, abundant and progressively more fertile and productive agriculture - see "POISON FREE AGRICULTURE" in these pages.


    Transgenic Food

    Many foods now contain the Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) toxin in their genes and cells - introduced to kill insect pests. I am not so sure that this is such a good idea, and I wonder what it does to a new foetus growing in a mother's womb, and to the small bodies of infants and babies. As always, what may be a 'tolerable' dose to the large body mass of an adult is a huge dose to the miniscule body mass of a foetus, and for the very small body mass of infants and babies.
    Further, the drift of the pollen of transgenic crops to related natural crops has now been observed. "Weeds have become stronger and fitter by cross-breeding with genetically modified crops, leading to fears that superweeds which are difficult or impossible to control may invade farms growing standard crops. Two separate teams, one working on sunflowers in the US and the other on sugar beet in France, have shown weeds and GM food crops readily swapping genes." ["Scientists Shocked at GM Gene Transfer"; The Guardian, Thursday August 15, 2002].
    And Dr. Mae Wen Ho, a bio-physicist and geneticist at the Open University, has told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "If you look at the scientific evidence, there are already signs that some of the products marketed may be harmful for human beings as well as for beneficial species." And, "the genes can spread out of control, not only by ordinary pollination, but by horizontal transfer across species barriers."

    Exactly. And now that the genie is out of the bottle, there is no way of ever getting it back into the bottle. It's done. These genes are out there now, and they will spread.


    Irradiation

    The purpose of irradiating food is two-fold; to kill bacteria and other micro-organisms, and to extend storage life. This method of sterilisation of food has been approved by the authorities some years ago. It came to public notice recently with the FDA's plan to provide school cafeterias with irradiated foods, which had been approved in 1999, but had not been acted upon until this recent (Oct. 2002) decision.
    In my view, as well as many other's, this will be another future disaster exactly like DDT, Thalidomide and the PCB's - all once touted as 'miracle' chemicals, only to turn out to be total and persistent disasters.
    The high energy of irradiation kills micro-organisms by breaking chemical bonds, creating free radicals, which then cause cascades of robbed electrons from other elements - until they either find a free electron, or bond with another free radical to form a new compound. This effectively kills all micro-organisms in the irradiated food.
    However, the radiation causes exactly the same effects throughout all of the irradiated food. Consequently, all trials with mice, rats, hamsters and dogs have shown severe damage to the animals, including death (in mice), when fed freshly irradiated food (see all the "DETAILS" here). These effects subside when the irradiated food is stored for a minimum of 12 days to 12 weeks before being fed to the animals.
    Since storage costs money, and since these 12 days to 12 weeks of storage count against shelf life, I have no confidence at all that the minimum of 12 days, much less the 12 weeks of storage will be observed. Moreover, all of the experiments have been very short term trials, and I am not aware of any long-term studies.
    For all of these reasons, I fully agree with Dr. George L Tritsch, PhD, Cancer Research Scientist, Roswell Park Memorial Institute, New York State Department of Health:
    "I am opposed to consuming irradiated food because of the abundant and convincing evidence in the refereed scientific literature that the condensation products of the free radicals formed during irradiation produce statistically significant increases in carcinogenesis, mutagenesis, and cardiovascular disease in animals and man. I will not address the reported destruction of vitamins and other nutrients by irradiation because suitable supplementation of the diet can prevent the development of such potential deficiencies. However, I cannot protect myself from the carcinogenic and other harmful insults to the body placed into the food supplies and I can see no tangible benefit to be traded for the possible increased incidence of malignant disease one to three decades in the future."


    Anti-biotics, Growth Hormones, Female Hormones:

    With the exception of a few producers who have opted out of hormones and anti-biotics, all of our meat and dairy products now contain growth hormones, female hormones and anti-biotics. Growth hormones are given to accelerate growth and reduce the time to market. I wonder very much what growth hormones do to women who have just developed a small cancer node in a breast, for instance.
    Female hormones are given to increase weight and have now become the first suspects of the dramatic drop of the age of sexual maturity to between 5 and 8 years. Since it is well known that given small doses of estrogen, mature males develop well formed breast, female hips and loose their facial hair, it is inevitable that these female hormones in our daily meat and dairy products feminize males.
    That constant exposure to anti-biotics in livestock, meat and dairy products, and in ourselves, has now lead to "super bugs" - bacteria which are resistant to most and all of our anti-biotics - is now well known, and a looming health problem of major proportions. Moreover, it has recently been discovered is that our rivers, lakes and waterways are now polluted with anti-biotics as well.


    Chemical Pollutants:

    This leaves only the chemical and industrial pollutants like deadly PCBs, dioxins, endocrine blockers, lead, mercury, arsenic, asbestos, benzene, and a wide variety of other industrial pollutants in our environments.


    Conclusion:

    There is no way our daily food can be called "food" anymore. Instead, "poisonous fill" is an accurate description of what is in our grocery stores, and what we are now sitting down to at every meal - and feeding to our children. The consequences? - we are committing self-extinction by agriculture, and we'll all be gone in 3 or four generations, at the latest.

    The immediate consequences are particularly harsh for vegetarians, and more so for vegans. Besides a severe lack of nutrients in today's food, a deficiency in B12 vitamins - which is only available in meat, poultry, dairy and fish, a deficiency of B12 in the mother could easily result in mentally retarded children.

    The immense tragedy is, as mentioned earlier, that none of this is necessary. We could so easily have a wonderful and richly abundant agriculture producing supremely health food - see "POISON FREE AGRICULTURE" in these pages - and consequently, enjoy practically disease-free lives.
