Although the following organizations are staffed and supported by thousands of dedicated individuals, they are still a nanoscule minority compared to our over 6 billion teeming multitude. Yet, these far-sighted individuals - compared to the rest of us - are the only hope we've got. And if all of us don't get behind them, and help in any way we can, about 3/4 of the human race will disappear within the next 50 years.

In the light of what we come to understand in these pages, it is now clear that Greenpeace is the only world wide organization which is actively and valiantly fighting for the very survival of humankind and of our biosphere. The name "Rainbow Warrior" - pictured at left - was inspired by a North American Indian legend which prophesies that when man has destroyed the world through his greed, the Warriors of the Rainbow will arise to save it again. At present they are our only hope.

Given the earth's unified ecosystem and an increasingly integrated global economy, only a global approach to issues such as climate change, depletion of the stratospheric ozone layer, the loss of biological diversity, degradation of oceans, and population growth can be effective.
