The Cure and Prevention of Hoof & Mouth Disease |
|
In his book "An Agricultural Testament", (Oxford University Press; 1940 / '43 / '49 / '72/ '76 / '99), Sir Albert Howard, the former Director of the Institute of Plant Industry in Indore, India, described how his work oxen on his small organic farm in Pusa, India, remained completely immune to hoof & mouth disease. |
|
At the time though, Sir Howard was - like everyone else, and most of our best experts even to this day - unaware that all organisms - plant, animal and human alike - require the complete natural range of the 72+ trace elements in their daily food to remain robustly healthy, and that return of all life wastes also returns and maintains the original complete range of the natural 72+ trace elements in the soil, and hence, in all of its products, and hence again, in all of its consumers - in a perpetual cycle from soil to crops, and hence to animals and humans - and via all life wastes, back again to the soil.
As mentioned throughout these pages (see SUPREME HEALTH), our modern agriculture currently knows of and maintains only eight (8 !!!) trace elements in its soil, and due to this 150 year-old ignorance and neglect, over 60 crucially vital trace elements, to all organisms, have become either severely deficient or entirely exhausted.
This is not only the cause of many crop, animal and human diseases, but it also renders their immune systems defenseless. It is, for all the world as if we, our livestock and crops had all but impenetrable defense rings bristling with highly sophisticated, exquisitely accurate and supremely effective cannons - but no ammunition.
I know that hoof & mouth disease is a viral disease. I also know that the complete spectrum of the 72+ trace elements in organisms is supremely effective against most, if not all viral infections (the number of people and animals who "have never had a sick day in their lives", for this reason, are legion). The most likely missing trace elements in viral infections are most probably silver or arsenic, or both. Silver and arsenic are deadly to all micro-organisms, are normally present in soils at 0.07 ppm and 1.5 ppm (parts per million) respectively, and in human blood at 0.003 and 0.09 mg dm-3 (this value may well be too low, since this is a fairly recent measure, and may well reflect a deficiency). But due to the 150 year-long ignorance and neglect of over 60 crucially vital trace elements, silver and arsenic have now become either severely deficient or entirely lacking in all chemically farmed soils.
And although the "organic method" has been known to organic farmers for over 60 years - Sir Howard's book is their 'bible' - its record in this regard has been spotty. The reason for this is that even the organic farmers do not, as yet, know that crops, animals and humans alike need the complete range of the 72+ natural trace elements in their daily nutrition for their natural robust health and supremely effective immune responses. Consequently, and especially on farms which have been converted from chemical to organic methods, the deficiency of over 60 trace elements persists, resulting in less than 100% duplication of Sir Howard's results.
All indications point to the fact that this lack of over 60 crucially vital trace elements in soils and fodder is the chief cause of the hoof & mouth disease pandemic which now plagues our livestock, as well as of many other crop, animal and human diseases.
A simple trial will provide ample proof. Isolate a hoof & mouth disease infected herd, and feed them rations including a minimum of 4 oz. of fish meal (for its content of the complete natural range of the 72+ trace elements - see SUPREME HEALTH in these pages) per 150 lbs of body weight per animal per day. In 3 months, or less, the animals will be completely and robustly healthy.
Meanwhile, this also gives us a way of determining whether livestock will be infected with hoof & mouth disease, or remain immune. If an analysis of pasture soil and of fodder shows the presence of the full spectrum of the 72+ trace elements, the herds reared on this soil and fed this fodder will remain healthy and immune to hoof & mouth disease.
The only difficulty here is knowing whether the amounts of the 72+ trace elements found in soil and fodder are sufficiently high. After 150 years of neglect of over 60 trace elements, deficiencies are now wide spread, and even if the complete 72+ range is present, trace element levels may well be too low.
The only guide posts here are those farms whose livestock have been found to be consistently free of hoof & mouth disease despite opportunities for infection. These are most likely small farms where manures and other life wastes are historically, customarily and routinely returned to the soil, thus maintaining the original natural level of the 72+ trace elements in those soils. Nevertheless, even then there is a slow 'leaking away' of trace elements, due to farm and livestock products being shipped away, and with them, the trace elements they contain.
Here are some cases in point. In his book "Lethal Legacy", Bloombury Publishing Plc, London, England, 1996, Dr. Stephen Dealler, a Microbiologist, first raised the alarm that an epidemic of the human form of "mad cow" disease could be on its way - an alarm which now shows signs of being borne out.
Most significantly though, he also mentions the curious fact that scrapie, a similar disease in sheep, occurs only on certain farms, while others remain completely free of this disease. Moreover, even when the entire sheep herds of the infected farms are destroyed and replaced with new healthy sheep, scrapie quickly re-occurs on these farms.
And here is the most 'baffling' fact. Scrapie-infected sheep which had been shipped to Australia, there recovered and became completely healthy again.
This is a clear indication that the lack of the complete natural range of the 72+ trace elements in the soil and fodder is the cause of scrapie. And the same may well hold true for BSE - for mad cow disease. This is borne out by the fact that many small farms - which are more likely to still return manure and other life wastes to the soil - remain free of mad cow disease.
Dr. Dealler often mentions "an unknown environmental factor" regarding mad cow disease. In my view, the combination of a 'spotty' geographical pattern of infection and immunity, and of Sir Howard's account of dramatic and repeated immunity to hoof & mouth disease, is a direct indicator that the deficiency or lack of over 60 trace elements - as induced by our modern chemical agriculture - is the chief cause of these and many other diseases.
In the absence of a 72+ trace element fertilizer, the complete natural range of the 72+ trace elements can be supplied, either via the return of all life wastes to the soil, and/or via fish, kelp or fishmeal fertilisers, and/or by supplementing livestock feed with fish, kelp or seaweed meal.
