    Homo Nobilis Among Us

    H. nobilis in the juvenile phase
As we have seen in the universal dynamics of Growth and Maturity, in the growth phase all organisms are totally and exclusively concerned with the survival and well being of the self. This is the cause of the often appalling self-centeredness of our own offspring, as well as the well known sibling rivalry among them. Indeed, it is not uncommon that this essential self-centeredness is carried over well into adulthood, even old age.

Until recently, a concern with the survival and well being of lives other than the self did not arise until the advent of the mature phase, and even then by no means in all.

And while little girls - due to their reproductive mandate - have long shown early signs of a budding concern with the survival and well being of lives other than the self, it has been extremely rare among little boys. This photograph, by this author, of a young boy and his little sister is, for all these reasons, the more remarkable.

Young as this little boy may be, he already has an overriding concern for the survival and well being of his little sister. And while this can be taught and is then grudgingly obeyed, in this case it is not. His abiding concern for the well being of his little sister is inborn and arises from deep within the core of his being. And this is, of course, the hallmark of Homo nobilis, stellaris now emergent among us.
